Northampton Council sets date for Police Chief vote

Mayor David Narkewicz named Cpt. Jody Kasper to replace the retiring chief Russell Sienkiewicz

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Northampton City Council will vote on the Mayor’s choice for chief if police this month.

On Thursday the City Council set the date of June 29th to confirm the appointment of Captain Jody Kasper as Northampton’s next Police Chief.

Kasper’s certification is all but certain as City councilors told 22News they’re confident Kasper’s appointment will be approved in a unanimous vote.

Council Vice President Jesse Adams told 22News, “I support her appointment, and I think she’s the perfect choice for the Northampton Police Department.”

“I think she feels this is her home; she knows the community,” said City Councilor Marianne LaBarge. “And it’s great to have somebody who knows our city and how to work with the people here.”
