BOSTON (AP) — Federal authorities say they have dismantled a violent Boston street gang by arresting 48 people on drug and gun charges.
Members of the Columbia Point Dawgs were arrested Thursday. Federal authorities said during a news conference that the group is the largest and most powerful gang in Boston.
Police say the gang started operating out of the Columbia Point housing project in the Dorchester section of Boston decades ago. They say the gang used legitimate businesses as a front to move drugs.
The gang was tied to several high-profile killings in the 1990s. In 1995, a member of the gang was shot and killed while riding in a car with singer Bobby Brown.
