How the weather has affected outdoor projects

Many people had to make repairs caused by ice dams this past winter

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The long, cold and snowy winter we had that lasted into the start of spring made it difficult to start doing things outside.

But the weather we’ve been having lately has been pretty good for getting those outdoor projects done.

“We’re seeing more and more people come out for the outdoor products. The decking of course, generally we have a late paint and stain season. This year it’s a little bit earlier because last year it was a little bit wetter in the spring,” said Robert Boilard of A. Boilard Sons of Springfield.

“We do some outside painting around the building and properties I own. I’ve had to put a little bit of that off now but I hope if this weather continues it’s perfect for doing outside painting,” said Michael Boucher of East Longmeadow.

Robert Boilard of A. Boilard Sons in Springfield said the long winter did make for a late start for the building industry but things started picking up in late April and early May.

He said they’re seeing a lot of people doing remodeling and making repairs to damage caused by ice dams from this past winter.
