SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police officers traveled to New Britain, Connecticut overnight to pick up a 12 year-old girl who had been missing since Sunday night. Springfield Police Detective Selenia Cruz told 22News that Iysiss Sutherland was found safe in a New Britain park late Tuesday night.

Sutherland had left her Springfield home at around 8:00 Sunday night, and police notified local media outlets in order to put members of the public on the lookout.

Police had been concerned that she might have been in the New Britain area with a grown man, though Sutherland was alone when they found her. Cruz says that there were no signs that Sutherland had been physically or sexually abused, though she was taken to Mercy Medical Center to be checked out, just in case.

No charges are being filed in the matter.
