Emergency Room of Noble Hospital was evacuated due to a burst pipe

The hospital declared a "code black"

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Emergency Room of Noble Hospital in Westfield was evacuated Sunday afternoon.

Dr. Stan Strzempko told 22News a sprinkler pipe burst in the ER’s bathroom at around noon Sunday, causing some flooding.

The hospital declared a “code black” which means they are temporarily not able to accept ambulances. About 14 patients were relocated to other parts of the hospital.

Maintenance crews cleaned up the mess and the Emergency Room was reopened by 3 o’clock. They don’t know what caused the pipe to burst.
