Campaign educates drivers about the right of horses on the road

The horsemen and women in Western Massachusetts call their campaign share the road

Belchertown, Mass. (WWLP) – People in Western Massachusetts who love riding horses have launched their 2015 campaign to educate drivers about the rights of horses on the road.

The horsemen and women in Western Massachusetts call their campaign share the road, horses paved the way.

Tamara Gehring, the owner of a Belchertown horse farm told 22News some drivers may not be familiar with law that gives horses the right of way “If we are riding down the road and we ask someone to slow down and actually stope the vehicle if we signal them to slow down they have to come to either a halt and stop the vehicle if we have a horse acting up in the road,” said Tamara Gehring.

People who love horses re-start the share the road campaign every June to reach drivers who still aren’t clear about certain rules of the road regarding horses having the right of way.
