Drugged driving suspect accused of assaulting police officer

Colin York of Lake Pleasant facing multiple charges

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A man who was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs is now facing new charges, after he allegedly assaulted an officer at the police station.

According to Hadley Police, 27 year-old Colin York of the Lake Pleasant section of Montague was arrested for OUI drugs in the parking lot of the Sportsman’s Marina at around 1:00 Friday morning. After conducting a search, police also allegedly found he had psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana, so he faces additional possession charges for those.

As he was being taken to the station for booking, police say he had slipped his hands to the front of his body, and once he got to the station, assaulted one of the officers there. The officer did not need to be taken to the hospital. York is now additionally charged with assault and battery on a police officer.

He will be arraigned Friday at Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown.
