Chicopee school bus involved in crash

No students were on board at the time

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A school bus was involved in a minor accident that caused some traffic backups in Chicopee Friday morning.

State Police Sgt. George Hamilton told 22News that no students were on board the bus when it was apparently rear-ended by another vehicle near the intersection of Burnett Road, Interstate 291, and the connector from Mass Pike Exit 6. The driver of the bus, and the driver of the other vehicle were not hurt in the crash.

Chicopee Public Schools Transportation manager Ken Parsons said that the bus was headed back to the terminal at the time of the crash.

This is the second day in a row that a school bus was involved in an accident in the Springfield area. A bus and two other cars were involved in a crash on Union Street in Westfield on Thursday morning. As in this case, no students were aboard the bus at the time of that accident.
