Walking all night for Relay for Life in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Nearly $40,000 was raised at Saturday night’s all-night Relay for Life in Springfield.

Springfield held their relay at Springfield Central High School.

That’s where 43 teams and close to 300 people gathered to celebrate life, and show their support for cancer survivors’ and those living with cancer. People like Nancy Woodman. She’s been living with colon cancer and says she’ll need treatment for rest of her life.

She told 22News the survivor’s lap is the highlight of her year. “You walk around the track and everyone stands up and applauds and they are just all so happy that you are living through cancer and treatment and going on as long as I can. That’s my happiest moment every year and I just had it.”

The community of Ludlow also held their Relay for Life Saturday night.

They raise more than $30,000 for the American Cancer Society.
