SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Senator Elizabeth Warren met with Hampden County leaders in Springfield Friday to discuss ways to support at-risk youth.
The state’s senior senator visited Suit Up Springfield, a non-profit that provides donated suits to young men and also teaches professional skills.
Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni told 22News it’s essential to reach young people before they choose the wrong path. Gulluni said, “It’s about giving these kids encouragement to continue to lead, to continue to make choices that keep them away from drugs, violence and guns. What we need to do is focus on the younger kids and give them opportunities, inspiration.”
Senator Warren later met with Springfield firefighters, before heading west to deliver the commencement address to the Berkshire Community College graduating class.
