Pool alarms can help prevent summer tragedy

Floating pool alarms let you know if someone goes in the pool

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – People who have swimming pools in their yards can add an extra layer of protection against a summertime tragedy involving children.

Sometimes a fence or a gate just aren’t enough to keep young children out of a pool when no one’s around.

Drewnowski Pools and spas in Agawam sells floating pool alarms that let you know if someone goes in the pool.

Assistant manager Joseph Gregory told 22News, “A floating one is pretty simple. It’s where the water is very, very still. Something splashes in the water, and it makes a very, very loud noise.”

Gregory told 22News that, in addition to making a loud noise, some of the alarms can send alerts to your smart phone.

They range in price from $50 to $200.
