UMass President to be paid at least $3.27 Million

BOSTON (WWLP) – The new President of the UMass system starts his new job on July 1st.  The 22News I-Team obtained a copy of incoming President Martin Meehan’s five year contract.

His average salary is $563,000 and will make at least $2.8 Million in salary in the next five years.

He also receives $12,500 for an annual car allowance and $60,000 for an annual housing allowance.

Meehan is a former Congressman and is currently the Chancellor at UMass-Lowell.  He will replace Robert Caret who is leaving for the University of Maryland.

With his salary and perks added up, Meehan will make at least $3.27 million of our taxpayer dollars.  That doesn’t include any performance bonuses. He is eligible for bonuses up to 11% of his base salary.
