(KVLY) Memorial Day will be quieter this year in Valley City, North Dakota.
The town’s annual parade has been canceled. Firefighters, Boy Scouts and veterans won’t wave to the crowds.
Veterans from the VFW host the event every year, but this year, not enough people signed on to take part.
“Our honor guard is up in age, I’m 70, and we’ve got guys that are older,” says veteran Robert Bowen, “We have the Iraqi veterans coming and Afghanistan and them and we can’t get them to join.”
