(KING) Washington state’s E. coli outbreak now includes victims that never attended the Milk Makers Festival, which is believed to have been the source.
They are cases of secondary transmission, patients who became infected from other patients.
Bennett Neiser is one of the youngest victims in the E. coli outbreak. He just turned one in the hospital.
“Hindsight is 20-20,” said his mother Amanda Neiser. “We probably would have isolated Macy who had it first.”
Bennett’s mom is talking about their oldest daughter Macy, who went to the dairy festival last month. The 7-year-old got E. coli, and passed on to her sister Selah, and then to little Bennett, who suffered kidney failure.
