Two children hurt in head-on collision in Ludlow

The pickup truck rolled over three times with a little girl and a little boy inside

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Two young children were rushed to Baystate Medical Center Tuesday evening after a head-on collision in Ludlow.

“It was a serious accident,” said Ludlow Police Sgt. David Belanger. “The car is disintegrated.”

Sgt. Belanger told 22News a 31-year-old Texas woman was at the wheel of a small car that crossed over into oncoming traffic on Center Street and hit a pickup truck coming the other way. The truck rolled over three times, according to Belanger.

The two kids, a little boy and a little girl, were in the pickup truck with a man from Ludlow. Sgt. Belanger had no information on their conditionss, but he did say “their injuries were not life-threatening.”

The vehicles collided on Center Street, route 21, near Miller Street at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Route 21 traffic was restricted to one lane for about two hours while police investigated the accident.

Sgt. Belanger said police will cite the Austin, Texas woman for several moving violations.

“She must have looked down at a map. She was lost.” said Sgt Belanger.
