BOSTON (AP) — The judge in the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is expected to set the date for a hearing when he will be formally sentenced to death.
A status conference is scheduled Tuesday morning in U.S. District Court.
Last week, a jury sentenced Tsarnaev to death for the 2013 terror attack. Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when Tsarnaev and his brother placed two pressure cooker bombs near the marathon finish line on April 15, 2013.
After the jury’s verdict was announced, Judge George O’Toole Jr. said he planned to schedule a status conference to set the date for the formal sentencing hearing. Bombing survivors will be allowed to give victim impact statements at the hearing. Tsarnaev also will be allowed to speak.
