HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Much needed equipment is now available for the Holyoke Fire Department to better protect the city’s residents.
The department has 3 new fire engines and a new rescue boat. They will all replace the fleet that has been in service since the early 90’s.
Holyoke Fire Captain Anthony Cerruti told 22News how helpful the new equipment will be. Captain Cerruti said, “With the older fire engines, we’d go to a fire and the next thing you know the pump would be leaking and taken out of service. So the citizens of Holyoke can know that a brand new fire engine, which is reliable, is going to show up on scene.”
Funding was also secured for new turn out gear, like pants, gloves and coats, that will help keep firefighters safe during fires.
