Armed man robbed Walgreens in East Longmeadow

A man with a handgun forced the pharmacist to open a locked drug cabinet

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – East Longmeadow Police are looking for a white minivan involved in the armed robbery of a pharmacy Tuesday night.

East Longmeadow Police Sgt. Daniel Bruno told 22News a man armed with a black handgun jumped the counter and forced the pharmacist to open the locked drug cabinets in the Center Square Walgreens at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Sgt Bruno said the robber stole a quantity of prescription drugs from the secure cabinets.

The suspect ran out of the Walgreens and jumped into the rear of a waiting white minivan, which took off with someone else behind the wheel.

The robber was wearing a mask, a hat and gloves. He was carrying a small duffle bag, which he used to carry the drugs out of the Walgreens.

East Longmeadow detectives are looking at surveillance video.

No one was injured.
