Man stabbed in the stomach following argument

Ortiz is charged with Assault and Battery with a dangerous weapon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was stabbed in Springfield this Sunday morning after getting into an argument with someone he knew.

Springfield Police Captain William Collins told 22News they arrested 48 year old Jose Ortiz at 342 Wilbraham Road.

Captain Collins said that Ortiz and the victim started off arguing. The man who was stabbed allegedly threw the first punch, and then the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed him in the stomach.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center, but is expected to live. Ortiz is charged with Assault and Battery with a dangerous weapon.
