Amtrak to start repairs to Northeast Corridor

Tuesday's derailment killed eight people

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Beginning Monday morning, Amtrak will restore full operations along the busy Northeast Corridor. The corridor runs between Washington D.C. to Boston and Springfield.

After that deadly train derailment in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Amtrak says they made repairs. Federal officials ordered Amtrak to expand use of a speed-control system.

The company was also ordered to look at all curves on the Northeast Corridor for safety, and install more speed limit signs.

Tuesday’s derailment killed eight people and injured more than 200 others.
