STATE HOUSE (WWLP) – The revamped process for licensing medical marijuana dispensaries in the state will be announced Friday.
Lt. Governor Karyn Polito said dispensaries will now need to get a letter of support or non-opposition from the city or town where they plan to locate.
Public Health Commissioner Monica Bharel previously said the State would reconfigure licensing of the facilities that were made legal by a 2012 voter referendum. In April, Bharel said the Department of Public Health would continue licensing for entities already in the pipeline of the prior administration’s dispensary procurement process.
The new process will be similar to how pharmacies are licensed, according to Bharel.
