SPRINGFIELD Mass. (WWLP) – The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast takes place Saturday morning in Springfield, and that called for major preparations at Mercy Medical Center.
Mercy Kitchen workers Friday put in extra hours to get the pancake batter mixed up and ready for Saturday morning. A lot of it. They used their heavy mixing equipment to make batter that filled 100 five-gallon buckets.
President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center, Daniel Moen told 22News, “We’re part of Springfield, we’re part of the Springfield community, this is a big event for the spirit of Springfield. It’s a tradition in this city and we really want to be part of that.”
The pancake mix is donated by performance food service, but that is not all you can expect. There will also be 70 gallons of syrup, almost one thousand pounds of bacon and 200 pounds of butter.
Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children.
