BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is calling on the organizing group for Boston’s 2024 Olympic bid to finish and make public its detailed plan for hosting the games within the next month.
Baker told reporters at the Statehouse on Thursday that appropriate time is needed for the public to vet the plan before September, when Boston 2024 must officially notify the International Olympic Committee of its bid. A formal presentation to the IOC is due in January.
Boston 2024 chief executive Richard Davey told The Boston Globe on Tuesday that he expected a detailed plan to be ready in June.
Baker also said he and legislative leaders would announce shortly the hiring of an expert consultant to advise the state on the Olympic bid and any possible effect on taxpayer money.
