BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The best and brightest students from the state’s public colleges and universities gathered for the 29 Who Shine Awards. Each of the 29 students will soon be graduating from a community college, a state university or one of the UMass campuses.
It’s an opportunity for the Governor and top state education officials to highlight college students who have gone above and beyond in the classroom. The honorees must also be leaders in civic engagement and show a promising career path.
Greenfield Community College President Bob Pura told 22 News that the ceremony shows public colleges and universities are just as competitive as other private institutions, adding that “Access to public higher education not only transforms individual lives, but families, communities and the Commonwealth gets stronger as well.”
These twenty-nine college students plan on working in Massachusetts after they graduate.
