CHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – Two small brush fires are now under control in the western Hampden County town of Chester.

Chester Assistant Fire Chief Henry Fristik told 22News that the fires are off Route 20 near the railroad tracks. One is in Chester Center, while the other is about half a mile south of the center of town.

Area fire departments have been dealing with a series of brush fires recently, as western Massachusetts is in need of a longer-duration soaking rain.
