CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Great New England Air Show is now only two days away, and the pilots are getting ready to demonstrate their skills in front of thousands of excited spectators.
Dozens of planes, and about a dozen flying acts will be a part of this weekend’s show at Westover Air Reserve Base, including the famous Navy Blue Angels. 22News spoke with Blue Angels Captain Thomas Frosch, the flight leader and commanding officer, before they took off for a practice run Thursday.
“The biggest thing is teamwork you know, people think its just six pilots- we actually have 130 people on our team. So when you come to the show and you see the entire show from beginning to end, you get to see just a tremendous demonstration of teamwork and trust,” Frosch said.
The show starts at 8:30, when people will get to come in and see the different planes parked along the runway. Planes start taking off at 10:00 A.M., and flights will continue through the day until about 5:00 P.M. People do need to keep in mind that because so many people are expected, there will be some traffic.
