SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Heightened security measures have been put in place across the country due to increased concerns over the terror group ISIS.
At The Armed Forces Recruiting Center in South Hadley, they have not changed their day-to-day operations. While they are being extra vigilant, they welcome anyone interested in joining the United States Military to stop by the center.
Officers working in centers like the one in South Hadley are not only serving local communities but are also community members who work and live in the area.
“When you build that tight bond in the community, they’re a part of this city. So when they see something that’s out of place they’re going to notice, they’re going to notice when something looks a little suspicious.” said CMDR of Navy Recruiting New England, Justin Long.
Long told 22 News these measures are put in place as a precautionary measure and no one should be alarmed.
He also said they are seeing record numbers of people joining the military and encourages anyone thinking about joining to stop by the office.
