Teen injured after fall, wedged between boulders

Police say the girl had not been drinking

WESTWOOD, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries after she fell from a 20-foot ledge and became wedged between boulders in the eastern Massachusetts town of Westwood.

Westwood police say they were responding to a call of loud noise about 11:45 p.m. Friday when they found a bonfire in woods near condominiums and a large group of teenagers, many of whom were drinking. Police say some teens stayed at the scene as instructed and others ran.

Police broke up the party and the fire was put out. Officers and firefighters searching the woods found the teenage girl. She was rescued and taken to a hospital. Her name wasn’t released.

Police say the girl had not been drinking; they don’t know if she was running from police when she fell.
