PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The smoke could reportedly be seen for miles from a Pittsfield house fire Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief Steven Peaslee told 22News, the family living in the house on top of a hill on Highland Avenue wasn’t home when some nearby garbage began to burn. It then began to spread to their home.

The family of that home is now without a place to live tonight.
