South Hadley approves lawn upkeep bylaw

The penalty is $100 a day

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – South Hadley has approved a bylaw that would fine residents for having a messy yard.

Town Manager Mike Sullivan told 22News residents would have to ignore picking up their leaves and dead branches and have grass longer than six inches to be fined.

The penalty is $100 a day. If someone doesn’t pay, the town could put a lien on the property.

The bylaw will be enforced by the health department and the police department.
