AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – It was an evening of hope in Agawam Saturday night. People gathered at the Chez Joseph Banquet facility for the American Cancer Society’s Evening of Hope Gala.
In addition to the dinner and dancing and auctions, a group of volunteers called Griffin’s Friends were given the Omar T. Pace award.
Griffin’s Friends support children with cancer and their families. The group is named after Griffin Kelleher, who passed away from cancer at just 14-months old.
22News spoke with a volunteer of Griffins friends who was also a cancer survivor. “It’s just an amazing feeling being able to raise money and help these kids and have relationships with parents and tell them that they can do it and they can get through it and their kids will be just like me one day,” said Brianna Lawlor
The theme of Saturday night’s gala was diamonds and denim. Some people wore jeans with jewels.
All the proceeds went to the America Cancer Society.
