(WETM) A New York Lottery ticket is causing controversy in Elmira, New York.
Nick Lynough bought a seemingly normal lottery ticket at an Elmira bar last month. After scratching it off, he got a surprise he couldn’t believe.
“Unfortunately it says ‘you Elmira trash’ on it,” Lynough explains. “I’m a little offended by it for being a local here in Elmira, New York.”
The ticket for the lottery’s new Wheel of Fortune game lists three separate categories that must be scratched off: person, place and thing.
The New York Lottery issued the following response:
“The unfortunate arrangement of words on this individual ticket was completely random, coincidental and – most importantly – unintentional. As soon as the ticket was brought to our attention, we immediately contacted the ticket printing vendor to remove the word “trash” from being a possible result for any future game. we apologize to anyone who was offended by this unfortunate result.”
