NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WWLP) – A woman has become the second Springfield resident to be charged in connection with a late December murder in New Britain, Connecticut. According to New Britain police, 32 year-old Idaliz Zavala-Burgos of 21 Decker Place was taken into police custody on a warrant Tuesday afternoon with the help of U.S. Marshals and Springfield police.
She is charged with conspiracy to commit murder for the December 30 killing of Jesus Silva. The 24 year-old Meriden resident was found dead from a gunshot wound, inside a car parked near the corner of Yeaton Street and Farmington Avenue. Earlier this week, a murder charge was brought against another Springfield resident, Joel Jaquez. Jaquez was already in the custody of New Britain police at the time, on a separate charge.
Zavala-Burgos was ordered held on $1 million bond, and she was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
New Britain police have sealed the arrest warrant against Zavala-Burgos, and are not releasing additional information about the case at this time.
