Sheriff charged in ‘accidental’ shooting

(WXIA) A Georgia sheriff has turned himself in to face charges stemming from a bizarre shooting.

Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill has been charged in connection with a shooting at a home in Lawrenceville.

Hill called 911 and reported that he accidentally shot Gwenevere McCord, a 43-year-old real estate agent, at a subdivision model home Sunday night, according to police.

Gwinnett County Police said Hill has not been cooperative in the investigation.

According to Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter, Hill called 911 and said the shooting was an accident that happened while he was “practicing police tactics.” But Porter added there were inconsistencies between what he said and what the physical evidence revealed.
