Mass. senators vote for federal minimum wage raise

The bill would also phase out the $2.13 tipped wage

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Democratic lawmakers from Massachusetts are supporting an effort to raise the federal minimum wage to $12 per hour by 2020.

Senators Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren have already signed onto the Senate version of the bill. The bill would also phase out the $2.13 tipped wage.

The Massachusetts Legislature approved a law last year raising the state’s minimum wage to $11 per hour by 2017. There’s now a push in Massachusetts for a $15-per-hour minimum wage.
