GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WWLP-WTNH) – A school bus carrying some 33 students in Glastonbury, Connecticut was rear-ended by a truck late Tuesday morning, and some of those passengers are receiving emergency treatment. Our Connecticut sister station WTNH-TV reports that police have described those hurt as having suffered “whiplash-type” injuries.
The accident, which happened near the intersection of Main Street and Route 17, has been declared a “mass casualty” event, due to the possibility of a large number of ambulances needed.
It is not clear at this time exactly how many of the passengers were injured. In addition to the 33 students (all under 12 years of age), the bus was carrying three adults.
