Flights to Baltimore cancelled due to unrest

Baltimore Orioles also postponed games

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WWLP) – Several flights into Baltimore’s airport were cancelled early Tuesday morning, including at least one flight coming from Bradley International Airport.

Those early cancellations happened because of the intense rioting that happened throughout the city Monday. More than 150 fires were set, and stores were looted for hours.

Some flights between Bradley and Baltimore went on as scheduled throughout the day today, but the first Southwest flight at 5:30 from Bradley and another about the same time from Logan in Boston were cancelled.

22News talked to traveler Carl DiMario, who said the only reason he was still going was because it was a business trip that didn’t require him leaving the airport there. “It just seems out of control. There’s a lot of overreaction. I’ve had some people saying, ‘Oh, you’re going to Baltimore? I wouldn’t be going there right now’.”

The Baltimore Orioles games Monday and Tuesday night were postponed until next month. Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox will happen, but will be closed to the public.
