Brush fire in Chicopee

Firefighters in Chicopee worked to put out a brush fire off Route 33 Monday night.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters in Chicopee worked to put out a brush fire off Route 33 Monday night.

The Chicopee Fire Department dispatch told 22News that several crews were called to the woods behind the Ocean State Job lot on Memorial Drive around 11:00 p.m.

Firefighters were able to get the brush fire under control by midnight.

One firefighter told a 22News camera crew that they were worried the strong winds Monday night could have potentially spread the flames.
