Man shot in the neck in Springfield

The victim is expected to live

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was shot in Springfield Sunday night.

Springfield Police Captain Trent Duda told 22News a man was shot in the neck at around 7 o’clock Sunday night in the area of 18 Rifle Street.

Captain Duda said police were alerted to the gunshots by the city’s Shot Spotter activation system, which uses sensitive audio technology to listen for gunshots.

The victim was rushed to Baystate Medical Center and is expected to live.

Captain Duda said he’s not cooperating with their efforts to find the shooter.
