Massachusetts municipalities receive money from casino operators

Municipalities are spending the money on a range of projects

CHICOPEE Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts cities and towns are already seeing gambling windfalls, even before the first casino has opened its doors.

Fifteen communities, including towns in Western Massachusetts, have received roughly 5-million-dollars from the state’s three licensed casino operators.

Municipalities are spending the money on a range of projects. Longmeadow is using $850 thousand dollars from M-G-M to make improvements to roads, leading up to the company’s planned $800 million dollar casino in Springfield.
