Survey: Less than half of Mass. voters support Boston Olympics

The International Olympic Committee will select the host city in 2017

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A telephone survey of more than 400 voters found 46% of people are against Boston being the host. Close behind, 40% give their support. Most of the people who are against the bid are from Boston or surrounding areas.

One Springfield resident told 22News he supports the bid and is hopeful Boston will be prepared by 2024.

“I think it’s good for the state to bring in more revenue,” said Edward Smith. “10 years? By 10 years they should have it all figured out. I think it’s a good idea. We need something.”

The International Olympic Committee will select the host city in 2017.
