ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) — New rules for an Enfield bus service forbid clipping nails, brushing teeth and changing a baby’s diapers.
The Journal Inquirer reports that Social Services Director Pamela Brown said that because of “soiling incidents” on buses in February involving one person the transit service is establishing a policy for a “clean, comfortable environment.”
A notice posted on buses reminds passengers that good personal hygiene includes, but is not limited to, proper bathing and wearing clean clothes.
The bus service says that in “very rare cases,” passengers with extremely poor hygiene that disturbs the driver and passengers may not be allowed on buses.
Brown said the policy is intended to give passengers a fair chance to improve their behavior if needed. She said drivers and passengers brought “public health concerns” to the transit service.
