Emergency pet trailer unveiled in West Springfield

Trailer was made possible through more than $22,000 in donations

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – American Kennel Club Pet Disaster Relief unveiled the state’s first emergency trailer for pets on the Big “E” grounds Friday.

The trailer will give 65 pets a temporary home in the aftermath of tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters.

The Emergency Preparedness Director for the City of Springfield told 22News the trailer will keep pets safe, and give their owners peace of mind. Robert Hassett said, “People won’t go to shelters if they can’t take their animals and it puts them at risk, especially if where they’re staying is not really safe to stay in. So, this allows us to keep the people with their pets after a disaster.”

The trailer was made possible through more than $22,000 in donations.
