Teen wounded in Springfield machete attack

Police believe the victim knew his attackers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An unidentified teenager was slashed with in a machete attack in Springfield Monday night.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News the teen was walking near Fargo and Gilbert Streets around 4:40 p.m. Monday, when one of two men, described as teens, slashed the victim in his wrist and back. The victim is expected to be okay.

Sgt. Delaney said police believe the victim knew his attackers. No word on what led to the attack.

No arrests have been made so far.
