Deadly motorcycle crash on Route 66 in Westhampton

Motorcycle crash on Route 66 in Westhampton, Ma.

WESTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – State and local police are looking into a deadly crash involving a motorcycle on Route 66 in the Hampshire County town of Westhampton.

According to State Police Sgt. Tom Ryan, the motorcyclist lost control on Main Road, Route 66 near Rhodes Road at 3:30 p.m. in Westhampton. The victim, identified as 26 year-old Gregory Asher of Chester, was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It does not appear at this time that any other vehicles were involved, said Mary Carey of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

Westhampton Police, Massachusetts State Police from the Northampton barracks, MSP assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) are assisting in the investigation.
