WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – If you live near Barnes Air National Guard Base, you may have noticed more F-15 fighter jets in the sky beginning Monday night. The 104th Fighter Wing began night time training flights Monday evening.
The sessions are scheduled to continue through Thursday April 16th. The jets will launch around 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with expected landings between 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Residents should not be alarmed by the increased activity during the night time hours.
The missions are a critical part of the reoccurring training to ensure pilots are ready to respond to any airborne threat at any time in the Northeastern United States.
