PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island have arrested a man accused of robbing a bank in Massachusetts.
Members of the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force and Warwick police arrested 25-year-old Alexander Wheaton of Southbridge, Massachusetts, on Thursday.
The Southbridge Police Department issued a nationwide warrant for Wheaton, accusing him of robbing the Savers Bank in Southbridge on Tuesday. Wheaton was arrested at a motel in Warwick, where he was staying.
Wheaton was arraigned in District Court in Providence Friday. Police say he waived extradition and will be taken into custody by Southbridge police on Monday.
Wheaton’s response to the allegations isn’t known. He’s detained and court records do not list a lawyer for him.
