REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A pickup truck driver was arrested after allegedly hitting a motorcyclist while drinking and driving.

As firefighters were extinguishing a vehicle fire on Church Road just east of Amy School Road they discovered a motorcycle wedged underneath the pickup truck.

While still on scene of the fire, deputies were then notified of a motorcycle crash not far away at the intersection of M-82 and US-131.

A trooper with Michigan State Police went over to that crash and found an injured man who was later identified as the motorcyclist.

After further investigation, police said the pickup truck involved in the fire had collided with the motorcycle on M-82 near US-131 around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday and continued to drive dragging the motorcycle to Church Road where it caught fire.

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old Howard City man, was taken to a hospital in Grand Rapids. His condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the truck was arrested for suspicion of operating while intoxicated (second offense) and is being held at the Montcalm County Jail. Additional charges for leaving the scene of a crash are also being sought.
