(WTNH) – Bring on the Whopper wedding jokes. A man named Burger is set to marry a woman named King in the fast food wedding event of the season. And the fast food chain couldn’t be more excited for them.
It all started when Illinois’ Joel Burger and Ashley King were featured in an article by The State Journal-Register, where the couple announced their engagement with a photo of them behind a Burger King sign.
The two told the paper that they full embrace their nickname and even hoped to feature Burger King’s logo on drink koozies for a wedding favor.
When Burger King got wind of their new power couple, they tweeted.
The couple who began dating in college, plan to wed in July. With a little help from the food kingdom, their wedding is sure to be “something special.”
According to WABC, Burger King told the couple on Monday during a Skype session that they would pay for their wedding.
“When we heard about the happy, Burger-King couple, we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage. On so many levels, it felt like fate: they found each other and their story found us,” said a Burger King spokesperson to ABC in a statement.
The couple said they were “blown away” by the offer.
