SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Department of Children and Families now has custody of children found inside the home of a man and woman arrested for cocaine trafficking Tuesday morning.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney notified 22News that Eric Valle, 34, and Maria Pedraza, 31, were arrested following the raid of their 11 Carpenter Court home at around 9:00 A.M. Delaney says the raid came as the result of a lengthy investigation, and that detectives found $37,615 in cash, as well as 37 grams of cocaine, packaging material, and drug paraphernalia during their search.

He says police also found small children inside the home, and they are now in state custody.

Valle and Pedraza were arraigned in Springfield District Court on charges of cocaine trafficking and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Delaney says Valle was also charged for several outstanding warrants.
